Friedreich’s ataxia

Church fundraiser update; We’re China bound

On Feb. 2, Hermitage Christian Church held a concert and love offering for me. The band Murray & the Hickory Nuts played, and the church offered finger food and beverages. There was a good turn out, and in only a few short hours, we raised $1,300. The band sounded great, and everyone enjoyed themselves. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported me. The church plans to host another fundraiser in mid-March.

In other news, we have secured the trip to China, and I begin treatment May 10, 2008. We still need to raise more money to fund the trip, though.

Hi Mandy…My name is Diana and I am Tanya
VanderVeens mother. She emailed the “can
you spare a dollar” to me. I have sent it on to 20 of my friends and challenged them to meet my
$5.00 donation…I hope this helps. Good luck
in China honey. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mandy,

I was so happy that a friend and co-worker found your blog. My son is 25 and was diagnosed in 2003 with Friedreich’s Ataxia. His condition has now got to the point that in Jan he was forced to quit his job as he could no longer physically do it.

He is open to any type of research – especially stem cell. I was wondering if you could please share with me how to go about this.

Good luck to you … and thank you for any information you can share to help me with my son’s chance at stem cell research.

God Bless
Mari Chandler
